John Curtis Christian School Reviews

My son has gone to a catholic school since he was three. I was tired of all the BS that was going on at his school so we started searching for schools and ended up @ John Curtis. My son and I were both sold @ open house everyone was so nice. He is in Fourth grade. He feels more like family @ JC than all the years @ his catholic schol. I also am happy with JC. As for as academically the catholic schol we were at was behind JC.

I have been going to curtis since i was in kindergarden. it is a very friendly school but it does have its flaws. but i love John curtis and i feel like i am part of the family

I went to John Curtis from when I was 3 till I graduated. The academic part of the school is top rated. I graduated from college and own my own private christian school in Breaux Bridge. After I graduated from high school at John Curtis I was ready academically for college. It is not all about sports at Curtis. It is a family atmosphere and I am very proud to be a PATRIOT.

i love john curtis. i think it iss one of the best schools ive ever been in they really do care and they do whatever it takes to help you. i would think about putting your child in jc it will change everything around it feels at home

The school is alright. A lot of our kids are not learning what they should to stay in college. They pass them through for the football. Once they reach college they can't mantain they academics to stay in.

This is our son's third year at Curtis. He's excelled academically. I am very pleased with the family atmosphere. There teachers are amazing. There is also a lot of school spirit to go around.

My son has ADHD and dyslexia. I moved him from a public school (one of Jefferson's best) to Curtis because he wasn't getting the attention and help he needed (or was entitled to). Everything was a fight. When my kids started at JC, my son was in 2nd grade and my daughter was in Pre-K3. Since being at Curtis, my son's behavior has improved as has his grades. My son is in 4th grade this year and his teacher is the best teacher he has ever had. She has gone above and beyond for him. She even called me at home on a Saturday to discuss a problem he was having. No school is perfect but I think the school is great as are the Curtis'. It isn't all about football or any other sport. It is about family and involvement and pride.

This was our daughter's first year at Curtis and the the difference in the way she interacts with others is dramatic! She went from not knowing how to behave around others to looking forward to school each day( she is in the 3/4k program). What a wonderful caring environment, and yes we checked out several schools in the area. I would truly recommend this school for anyone who desires the best for their children, as we are proud to have our daughter attend this great establishment, and look forward to many years to come!

My work leaves me relocating within Louisiana and my son has attended different schools every other year. We are back at John Curtis and plan on finishing there even if it means commuting several miles. John Curtis has been a terrific school academically and athletically. My son attended catholic schools in the past and we found the curriculum no better than John Curtis. We discovered a lot of politics within the Catholic schools. The experience made me realize no school is perfect. My son is in honor classes with a 3.5 GPA, plays football, baseball and track. John Curtis works for us and our son shows it with his grades and his attitude towards school.

I am glad that I am not the only parent with the same problems as the November 2006 entry. He is on his 3rd jacket. My son loves playing sports. The class projects are not geared to the students, it is more geared to parent projects. His science class is the worst. The one study guide the teacher did send home had nothing to do with the test. I have started giving my son practice test to see if that works, but it doesn't. It is not like most classes where you can disect the chapter to pick out the important things. The test he has looks like college work, and he is in elementary school. The people in the office (secretary) are very unfriendly if they do not know you. They are really friendly when they are having fundraisers, which seem often.

This is my sons 1st year at Curtis and probably his last. Several things have been stolen from him,and we are only 3 months into the year. This is suppose to be a christian school but my child has not yet learned a bible verse. The school is definetely an athletic school! He is also having some problems in one of his classes, and the teacher has still not called me. On a more pleasant note, the school is run by the family, and they are very nice and seemed concerned, I just think I can get more for my money at another school.

I am pleased with John Curtis Christian School. My son has been attending since sixth grade and he loves it. The family environment is just what he needed. He is getting a good education and something he can carry with him throughout his college years and since of pride and respect along with what he is getting at home. I will be sending my daughter to John Curtis in the fall 2006. Because I find there is no politics when it comes to children participating in extra curriculum activities. Everyone gets a fair shot and in the lower schools and they can do it all (basketball, football, volleyball and cheerleading) and by the time they reach high school they have found their nitch. This is a good transition for any child who needs to develop and grow within themselves to become the adult person they are meant to be. I am a rehab counselor and I find that John Curtis is one in a few that accept the challenge of taking on children with learning and other developmental disabilities and that is a honor in its own. We have 3 sons and all attended Curtis since kindergarten. Our oldest graduated from Curtis 2 years ago. This is our 15th year there and we love the closeness and family atmosphere at Curtis. We wouldn't even think about another school. We have another son graduating this year and the youngest is in the 7th grade, so we have another 5 years there. Thank you so much for everything.

Absolutly great school! I would have graduated from JCCHS but moved to Virginia my senior year. I went there from 9th-11th and would have repeated my Senior there if I had the chance. If I move back to New Orleans both my kids will attend JCCHS from K-12! Thier sports program isnt the only top notch program they have. They DO NOT sacrifice academics in place of sports. I really dont know how to explain it. John Curtis Christian High School and lower schools are just the best, hands down.

I graduated from Curtis and loved the school and the family. They went above and beyond caring for me and about me. My son now goes there and he loves it. He was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (Autism) and no other school wanted to give him a chance. The Curtis' eagerly accepted him before they even met him. He graduated from Kindergarden this past spring and scored acceptionally high on his SAT's (1st to 2nd grade level). The parent participation I find is high. I sub for the school and it is all parents that run the offices, drive the buses, work with the kids. It isn't all athletics to them. The Curtis' have our total loyoalty.

My son is currently attending this school; this is his first year. He was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder when he was 5yrs. old. He always had problems with being accepted at others school because of his differences. This is the first school where he has truly fit in.

Great school , we feel our son received a sound well rounded education. We never worried about violence on campus or any of the other problems that we hear so much about today! Again let me stress the importance of education, it's not all about sports. Our son wasn't just a number there, he was treated like an individual, it was like one big family.

Great school overall. Would like to see Parent Teacher Organization evolve with some voting power. Students need a ministry department with counseling services. Needs more emphasis and support of girls activities both athletic and academics.

My husband and I attended this school and now my children do. It is a fabulous school. Many people think that it is all football. It is not. It is a well rounded experience and great education. The faculty is second to none.
