T.H. Harris Middle School Reviews

I am a parent as well as a member of the T.H. Harris PTG. There is every opportunity for parents to be involved at making thier child's experience at Harris extremely successful. Likewise, the students are afforded an excellent education that they choose to accept...or not. One's school experiences, for both parents and students, comes down to choices. I choose to be an active and participating member at Harris. I know what goes on there, and I am glad to be part of a great educational experience.

My son goes to TH Harris it is not a very good school the principal and vp along with the teachers are useless that is all the kids do is fight and curse at each other the teachers are afraid of the kids so they just close there eyes to everything .... please do not send your child there

After being involved with the school, I am convinved that teh school's focus is on providing a quality education in a safe and caring environment. Calls to the administration are returned promptly; teachers are focused on engaging their students, and technology (lots of it) is in use in every class and throughout the school. Great school; great teachers!!!

This is my sons 1st year at Harris. In the beginning I was very very concerned. We had a little bit of a teacher problem. But I spoke to the VP and my son was removed from the class. And put into the correct class. The Office staff is great. And their are a few teachers that are amazing. Most of my sons homework is done with on-line text books. It is a great school, there are always a few students at every school that could be a problem. But its the parents responsibility to make sure you've taught your child it be responsible for there actions.

My kids go to th Harris and they are in 6th and 7th grade and they love it there

I sent my son to this school after Katrina for he was awaiting the re-opening of his school. The students and faculty were very friendly, the administration was easily accessible, and my son enjoyed his time at the school.

If you care about your child, do not send him/her to T.H. Harris! I am a very involved parent, and I know first-hand that this school is unsafe and un-caring. If this is your district, you would do better to get a permit to send your child to another middle school. I wish someone had warned me.

I sent my child to T.H. Harris, and I regret very much sending her there. The quality of education and student services is poor. The new principal distances himself from the functioning of the school. The kids are great, but the school needs better teachers and better leadership.

My child very briefly went to Harris last year, and its not the staff its the students.I am comparing Harris to a catholic school my child went to prior to Harris. All the boys want to do is fight, fight, fight! The students curse, threaten each other on a daily basis, and smoke as they walk across the street when the bell rings. It definetely was not the school environment I was used to.With all these distractions I dont know how the students learn anything at all, except how to defend yourself! In this case I firmly believe that you get what you pay for, which was nothing!

I went to 6th grade at this school and absolutely hated it. The school itself is not in a good location at all. The bathrooms are disgusting, they never have any soap, there's never any toilet paper, and the toilets always overflow. The morals and ethics in this school are horrible. In gym class, you could only have a bigger locker if you were a part of the schools athletics. I think this school is perfect for students who don't want to learn. Signed, an unhappy student.

Totally unsatisfied with the teachers..

Harris is an excellent school with superior staff and teachers. My son has attended Harris since 6th grade, he is now an 8th grader, and I wouldn't dream of sending him anywhere else. In fact, we specifically returned home after Hurricane Katrina in order for him to finish middle school at Harris. After Hurricane Katrina, the staff returned, rolled up their sleeves, and produced another great year for the kids. I was a little concerned when we changed principals for the 2005/06 year, but Mr. Guichet is an awesome administrator making the school year fun for all. Academic achievement is rewarded appropriately giving under achievers incentive to work harder. The school is very safe as well. Parents sending their children to Harris will not be disappointed. Teachers genuinely care about the students' education and will make time to meet with parents. Donna P., Proud Harris Parent

I'm a student from T.H. Harris Middle School. I now attend Archbishop Chapelle High School. It was a big change going from a public school to a private school, but I was prepared because of T.H. Harris. My first two years at T.H. Harris, I dreaded because I didn't make it great like it could have been. My last year, I cleaned up, got involved with numerous extra-curricular activities, and pulled up my grades. I'd have to say I'd never take my years I had at Harris back. It showed me that I have to work hard for what I want and true responsibility. I loved Harris, and I would recommend any parent to send their child there.

I'm not a parent at the school but I am a student. I went to T.H. Harris for sixth and seventh grade, and it was the worst experience of my life. I'm not even joking, I now atttend Archbishop Chapelle High School, and am experiencing first hand all of the education I did not recieve in those two years. Don't get me wrong, the school is good for students who dont want to do work and dont want to learn but for students and parents trying to obtain a good education it's not the best choice! Signed ~Hated Harris~
